About Katsaris.
Cyprien Katsaris is a French-Cypriot pianist born in Marseille in 1951. He is best known as a performer, especially for his recordings of Liszt’s transcriptions of the Beethoven symphonies and for championing rarely played repertoire, and he is admired for his control of voicing and his ease at the keyboard.
He also composes and improvises. Among his own pieces are tributes to the composers he plays, such as “Goodbye, Mr. Rachmaninov” and “Merci Monsieur Chopin”. He also made the first recording of Bortkiewicz’s Preludes Op. 33.
